Marvelous stuff. It reminds me of Magritte, although it is also 'dirtier' and thus more realistic then the realist surreal style of Magritte, if you get my drift. I am not entirely sure about the background though, as it reduces the sight on the bars, making them bend a bit before my eyes. Perhaps a blue sky would have worked a bit better, although it may not have conveyed the message it does now.
The background isn't connected to the message of the piece and I second you idea to have sky in there instead. It's just a tough thing to get this hug cage photographed. I'll re-shoot it one day anyway.
Oh I love this. I was drawn in by the egg, because I love eggs. Hahaha. But this is incredible. At first, I thought the cage was too tall, but I kept looking at this and then realized that it is absolutely perfect. I love the danger in the egg hanging so highly above the bottom of the cage. Balance is such a fragile thing and if it falters, everything will be destroyed. Oh dang, I love cryptic messages. Especially ones involving eggs.
+impressive new direction you've taken... i see solid conceptual thinking here, plus a neatly executed piece. formal simplicity at its best and such a weight of ideas: a social commentary, a deep introspective questioning, an ironic witticism, and whatever another viewer might add. thought provoking and visually challenging. my respect, J.+
